AEROSPACE INDUSTRY

Aerospace Engineers currently use 3D printing mainly for rapid prototyping, tooling and even, part manufacturing. The manufacturing and prototyping of cabin interior components like frame overhauling, engine parts like impellers, propellers, nozzles and control surfaces of an aircraftare typically done by industrial 3D printing. The aerospace industry faces many challenges today.

A few include high temperature resistant components which has high manufacturing costs, long manufacturing time, competitive market conditions and restrictions in environmental performance. This is exactly where the benefits of additive manufacturing comes into play. Cost reductions, shorter production time, material savings and reduction of additional tooling are some of the reasons why aerospace companies are integrating 3D printing in their production strategies.
